How we began......

Jolene's brother, Ah Seng, has had a problem with gambling for over 30 years. It was a miracle for the family when he successfully turned over a new leaf at the age of 50. This prompted Jolene to set up The Silver Lining Community Services to reach out to more families in need. Their stories were featured on Mediacorp TCS 8's "The Navigators" series and reported in Lianhe Wanbao. More details can be found in the our book "Beyond Winning and Losing".
How we kept on going......

The secret to our high success rate lies in the communal spirit built by its returning members. Many reformed gamblers came back out of gratitude to give back to the organisation. Problem gamblers feel a sense of belonging here since everyone comes from the same background and faces the same struggles of loanshark harrassment, debt and family problems. They feel a sense of achievement when they can share their experience and help others overcome the lure of gambling.
